The Eli Young Band have been playing together for 17 years now, but that doesn’t mean they plan to let up with their music making anytime soon. In fact, they just announced to their fans that an entirely new album will be available later this summer.
The new album, titled “Fingerprints,” has a release date of June 16th. It will feature 11 songs and is available for pre-order on April 28th. With this album, the band attempted to take their music back to their roots. Their goal in making this album was to reconnect with their original country sound that they got from playing in dance halls in Texas.
However, when it came time to record the album, the group had a hard time choosing songs. They had been busy writing songs and simply had too many for the new album. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the band had this to say:
“We were writing some of the best stuff we’ve ever written and were being sent some of the best stuff we’ve been sent. It really felt good because we had a huge problem: what songs to pick.”
Eventually, the group did wind up selecting songs for their new album and ended with 11 new tracks. The majority of the new songs were written by the band members themselves; only three of them were from other writers.
This album will be the sixth studio album from the Eli Young Band and their first album with new recording label, The Valley Music Co. One of the favorite songs from the album so far is “Saltwater Gospel.” It gives off the perfect summertime vibe and will be the first release off the album this summer.
If you want to see the band live, they are pretty much constantly touring. Currently, they have dates all across the nation that will carry them through the end of the year. You can check out their full tour schedule on their website.
