Big Boi Drops Some Fire Ahead of His New Album

Big Boi’s new album “Boomiverse” is coming out soon but before it drops, the Atlanta rapper has released a couple of songs to get you ready for the ether.

For the first track Big Boi called in Atlanta Hall of Famers Killer Mike and Jeezy. The trio rap over a voice sample (I really want to know what voice is being sampled) and Trap drums that eventually gives way to an electronic outro at the end. Big Boi takes control of the song on the second verse though he did have one questionable line: “They say Cosby gave ’em roofies, now who knows what the truth is/Chicago’s full of shooters my garage is full of hoopties.” The truth is Cosby did it. Move on.

The second song is an upbeat tune featuring Adam Levine. It’s nothing like the first tune and that’s okay. The track is sure to get Big Boi some attention as the summer comes up.

Big Boi announced the new album via Instagram on April 20th. The album is his first solo release since 2012’s “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors.” In 2015 he collaborated with Phantogram on “Big Grams” which might explain some of the electronic music on “Kill Jill.”

Stay tuned for updates.
