On April 14, 2017, Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie gave everyone a taste of what to expect from their new 10-song-album, coming June 9. Their newly released single, “In My World,” is the nostalgia every Fleetwood Mac fan could only dream of experiencing in this day and age. From their usual dreamy blend of vocals to their distinctive style of percussion and Buckingham’s wicked guitar skills, it’ll be easy to get lost in every moment of this song.
When you listen to “In My World,” it will certainly feel like something crucial is missing due to the absence of the Queen of Rock herself, Stevie Nicks. Though it puts a damper on the full enjoyment of said nostalgia, the fact that Nicks isn’t present for this album only increases what makes it so unique: the special creative bond Buckingham and McVie have shared for the duration of their careers will finally be acted upon, and that is truly magical.
“We’ve always written well together, lindsey and i…This has just spiraled into something really amazing that we’ve done between us.”
“In My World” has this special something to it that is hard to properly articulate; there is a newness to their style that may potentially disappoint some fans around the globe. Yet in all actuality, their ability to always bring something new to the industry is what has always differentiated Fleetwood Mac musicians from all other artists. The song is bouncy, catchy, and resurrects everything about what we have always loved about both Buckingham and McVie’s musical abilities.
While they do incorporate something fresh and different into their new music, rest assured that there is still that classic Fleetwood feel that will continue to bring you to that magical place these musicians are notorious for honoring us with time and time again. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie have brought their distinctive dynamics and percussional rhythms to this new album that delivers an excellent balance of the new and the expected. However, though they’re an active part of the album, it’s still unknown whether or not they’ll share the stage with the duo during their “special U.S. concerts.”
