Movie: This song appeared in 1977 romantic action Nasir Hussain Films’ Hum Kisise Kum Nahin (We are not less than anyone) produced and directed by Nasir Hussain. The movie starred Rishi Kapoor, Tariq Khan, Kaajal Kiran (debut), Zeenat Aman, late Om Shiv Puri, late Amjad Khan, late Jalal Agha, Tom Alter, etc.
Rajesh (Rishi Kapoor) has lost his father recently and his sister Mala (Aarti) is soon to get married. Their father being a wealthy man from Africa, they do not know when he returned to India, what had happened to the wealth. With no wealth, Rajesh has to dance in hotels to earn his living. Saudagar Singh (Amjad Khan) approaches Rajesh to tell him that his father had given a man a belt full of diamonds when he had returned to India because he had suffered a fatal heart attack. But this man had not forwarded the belt to Rajesh. Thus, Saudagar Singh convinces Rajesh that he would help him get the diamonds.
In the meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar (Tariq Khan) is in love with Kaajal (Kaajal Kiran) from childhood. But, now, years later, Kaajal’s father Kishorilal (Kamal Kapoor) is against the alliance since Sanjay comes from a poor family. Soon, Sanjay gains employment with Rajesh, who is masquerading as Manjeet. Kaajal is told to visit Manjeet by her father. When Sanjay opens the door for her, she mistakes him for the person she was supposed to meet. After a song sequence, Sanjay’s secret is revealed and Kaajal begins to hate him.
We are told in the beginning of the movie that Rajesh has a London-based girlfriend Sunita (Zeenat Aman). At this juncture, the story reveals that Sunita had married someone else. Rajesh is sorrowful since Sunita had promised him that she would never leave his side, whatever may happen. It is at this time that he remembers the qawwali that both of them had sung on the Indian Independence Day in London.
Song: The music of this song was composed by R D Burman and the lyrics were composed by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
The man sings even though everybody is their enemy, they are not less than anyone else. The girl also joins in the romantic song.

The video opens with Zeenat Aman and Ajit entering the performance area of the club. Rishi Kapoor says a couple of dialogues and throws a chain forward on the stage. The music begins. Rishi Kapoor begins the alaap and the song. Zeenat Aman is sad that she cannot join him. She even has tears in her eyes.
Soon enough, Zeenat Aman begins the alaap and walks toward her place on the stage. Ajit is shocked. The girls on her side welcome her, standing up. Rishi Kapoor and the men on his side also stand up in respect. He is happy and gestures her to take her seat. She also begins the song. She throws her blue scarf at him, which he catches.
After singing a few lines, Zeenat Aman stands up goes to the middle of the stage to pick up the chain. By then Rishi Kapoor has come toward her. She plants the chain around his neck. The video ends there.
