Two of the biggest legends ever to take the country music stage are back at it with a brand-new video. “Lay Me Down,” sang by Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson, is a beautiful song, but the video they just released to go along with it is simply stunning.
The song is a somber reflection on times changing, the world and growing older. Lynn and Nelson sing about the peace they will feel when they “Lay Me Down” throughout the lyrics of the music. It’s a beautiful duet, and something just about all of us can relate to.
The video follows the stars as they prepare for the performance backstage. It shows the beautiful dresses Lynn is known for, and shows both of them warming up backstage. Eventually, the two meet on stage and finish the beautiful duet together.
The song is featured on Loretta Lynn’s new album “Full Circle” and is the perfect duet for this powerful pair. According to Rolling Stone, it was written by Lynn’s son-in-law, Mark Marchetti. They shot the video at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville. Surprisingly, the two haven’t shared a stage since they performed together in 1985.
The other songs on Lynn’s new album are bound to be just as wonderful. Fans are particularly excited about it because it is Loretta Lynn’s first album in more than a decade. With this album, she hoped to bring a nostalgic sound to the songs. For that reason, many of the songs are in the Appalachian folk song style that made her famous.
As for what the future holds for Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson, the pair is currently booked to play a tribute to Merle Haggard on April 6th, which would have been Haggard’s 80th birthday. They will also share the stage with other country stars, like Kenny Chesney, John Mellencamp, Dierks Bentley, Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert.
