Aja tujhko pukare mera pyar – Rafi – Ravi – Waheeda Rehman | Neelkamal (1968)

This song appears in the movie time to time again and again. I have chosen the song when it comes for the first time.

Movie: This song appears in the 1968 movie Neel Kamal (Blue Lotus, a girl’s name here) produced by Pannalal Maheshwari and directed by Ram Maheshwari. The star-cast included Waheeda Rehman, late Raaj Kumar, Manoj Kumar, late Mahmood, late Balraj Sahni, Shashikala and late Lalita Pawar.

An artisan, Chitrasen (Raaj Kumar) is in love with princess Neelkamal (Waheeda Rehman). The king rejects this alliance and buries him alive. During the time he is being buried alive, he sings this song.

Song: Music of this song was composed by Ravi and the lyrics were penned by Sahir Ludhianvi.

The man beckons his beloved and says that his love was calling her. He was being destroyed in her love.

Video: Cinematography is by Fali Mistry.

The video opens with Raaj Kumar beginning the song. He is in chains and being buried alive. The sculptures supposedly made by him are shown in this shot. Waheeda Rehman and Raaj Kumar are also shown romancing on a television screen. The video ends as the pillar in which, he is buried is completed.

Artists: The playback singer is Mohammad Rafi and Raaj Kumar, Waheeda Rehman and others perform onscreen.

Cultural Influence: Art is in Indian Culture, like that of any other country. This artist is being killed because he loved a princess. That is the gist of this filmi song. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable.
