Dan + Shay are once again shaking up the world of country music with a brand-new song and video. “How Not To” just came out and is already making waves.
One of the reasons it is such a powerful song is because of the meaning behind the lyrics. The duo created the song to show how people struggle with alcohol and alcohol addiction. Sadly, this is something many people struggle with in the United States. Their message definitely struck a nerve and brought attention to the issue.
After watching the video for the first time, many fans were actually a little surprised at the way the duo took it. When you first hear the song, it sounds like it is talking about a break-up. However, in the video, Dan + Shay take the song in an entirely different direction.
The main characters in the video are Katie Stevens and Pierson Fode. Naturally, it’s really nice to see these characters come to a happy end when they celebrate their sobriety at the end of the video. Their dominant performance is really the icing on the cake when it comes to this song, and it helps tell the story in a unique way.
The song comes from Dan + Shay’s new album “Obsessed”, which was released in July, 2016. The album also includes hit song, “From the Ground Up,” a favorite for many country-music fans.
Dan + Shay are getting ready to head out on tour for the new album. They will begin in Nashville, Tenn., and wind through the country, finishing in Central Point, Oreg., on 30 July, 2017.
