Movie: This song appears in 1979 action drama Heera-Moti (Diamond-Pearl) directed by Chand and produced by Ratan Mohan under the banner of R M Arts Productions. The movie starred Shatrughan Sinha, Reena Roy, Danny Dengzongpa, Bindu, late Ajit, late Anwar Hussain, Dev Kumar, etc.

Neelam (Reena Roy) is well-versed in the art of self-defense and lives with her guardian (Om Shiv Puri), who is the trustee of a Lord Krishna Temple. Neelam is attracted to a young businessman named Heeralal P Srivastav (Shatrughan Sinha). But Neelam does not know that Heeralal is, in fact, a burglar named Heera and he is after the diamond-studded crown of Lord Krishna. He is also feigning the romance with Neelam for his ulterior motive. He wants to give the crown to Pratap Singh (Ajit). But, he has to contend with his arch-rival Moti (Danny Dengzongpa), who would never let Heera steal the crown.

It is around this time that Neelam participates in a dance competition in Shimla. Bits of paper with names of the prospective partner for the dance are placed in a box. Heera wins the draw and joins Neelam in the dance. After the dance, Neelam gets the trophy and Heeralal gets a gold chain with a cross from the Christian priest (Danny Dengzongpa), who was the judge for the dance competition. The locket contains a transmitter (microchip of those days) for Danny Dengzongpa to hear whatever Heeralal says.

Soon, Neelam returns home in Bombay (Mumbai now) with her friend Julie (Bindu) and Heeralal. When Julie informs Neelam’s guardian that his ward loves Heeralal, he immediately arranges their engagement. The day they get engaged it is also Heeralal’s birthday. Therefore, Neelam sings this song on this occasion.

Danny Dengzongpa tells Shatrughan Sinha to play the musical instrument; the leading man removes the golden chain with the cross that Danny Dengzongpa had given him during the dance competition. Shatrughan Sinha also tells him that he knows who he is.

Shatrughan Sinha begins to play the piano and Reena Roy begins the song. Bindu also replies to her. Reena Roy and Bindu take turns to sing the song. Reena Roy throws a rose flower at Shatrughan Sinha, which he kisses and places on the piano. Om Shiv Puri happily looks on. Danny Dengzongpa pulls Reena Roy into his arms for a few steps of ballroom dance.

Danny Dengzongpa picks up a tray of beverage glasses and climbs the stairs looking out for trouble. The video ends with the song and everyone claps.
