It’s the first Sunday of February which means it’s time for that greatest of American holidays: The Super Bowl. This year the Super Bowl has doubled-down on it’s hip-hop credibility. The game is being hosted in Houston, the birthplace of Geto Boys, Bun B., Pimp C and many other Southern rappers. And the team representing the NFC in the Super Bowl happens to be from Southern hip-hop’s most iconic city: Atlanta. Because the Atlanta Falcons lack a household name at quarterback (no offense NFL MVP Matt Ryan) or an outspoken player (think Richard Sherman) or under-spoken player (think Marshawn Lynch) at another position, the Super Bowl’s media week was mostly uneventful. Not to worry though, I have trawled the web for some Super Bowl Hip-Hop Highlights. Enjoy.
Migos and Julio Jones:
Under Armour gave Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones a pair of cleats inspired by the cover art for the Migos album “Culture” and the TV series “Atlanta.” Also, people really want Migos to perform at halftime. They’re signing a petition for it. Other Atlanta rappers have been suggested as well.
Action Bronson cooks garlic Parmesan chicken wings:
It’s the Super Bowl and Action B is going big; he puts a tablespoon of butter in a pan of garlic and Parmesan before throwing caution to the wind and adding the whole stick. As one should.
Paul Wall lives in Houston:
This article is basically about Paul Wall living in Houston. He didn’t give a Super Bowl pick but he did complain about Lady Gaga being the halftime show performer. He was hoping for an Atlien.

Things are just getting started. Soon Twitter will explode with opinions, picks and reactions to Lady Gaga’s performance. Tune in at 6:30 E.T. The game is being broadcast from NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
