The dictatorship of the Panchayat in villages is well-known in India. But in this movie, this dictatorship of one particular village is challenged by the low-caste Baniya Bansilal (Rajinder Nath), desiring to marry Brahmin Billoo (Nikita). Kanhaiya (Sanjay Khan) comes to the village and falls in love with Lajjo (Mumtaz). On their second meeting in a fair, he sings this song and she joins him.
Song: The music of this song was composed by R D Burman and the lyrics were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
The man is teasing the girl and she reacts to it like he wants.
Video: The video opens with some men teasing Mumtaz by blowing some toy musical instruments. They are Sanjay Khan’s friends. Sanjay Khan creates some music with a balloon. Mumtaz moves away from there. Mumtaz tries to hit a couple of men, who are playing the drums.
Sanjay Khan begins to play the been (snake charmer’s clarinet). Mumtaz begins to dance to the tune. Sanjay Khan and others also begin to dance. Sanjay Khan catches hold of Mumtaz’s hand and begins the song. Mumtaz tries to take her hand away. But, he does not allow it. She pushes him away. Sanjay Khan’s friends encircle her and play the individual musical instruments.
Mumtaz pushes them all away. Sanjay Khan picks up a metal pot and begins to tap it for a musical effect. Sanjay Khan lifts Mumtaz on his shoulder and dances that way. The video ends when Mumtaz leaves the camera’s focus area and Sanjay Khan and his friends continue dancing in front of the camera.
Artists: The playback for this song was given by Mohammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar and the onscreen performances are by Sanjay Khan, Mumtaz and others.
Cultural Influence: This is a typically filmi ched-chad type of song. The situation can be real, but minus the song. The song and the artists are good and the video is watchable for them.
