Movie: This song appeared in 1976 social and family drama Bairaag (Devotional Austerity) directed by Asit Sen and produced by Mushir-Riaz under the banner of M R Productions. The movie starred Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, Leena Chandavarkar, Prem Chopra, Helen, late Sujit Kumar, late Madan Puri, Paintal, Kader Khan, late Asit Sen, Sachin, etc.

Kailash (Dilip Kumar) loses his eyesight post a car accident. His wife gives birth to twin boys, one of whom is blind. Before his wife is conscious again, he asks the doctor to dispose off the blind infant. The doctor’s wife leaves the blind infant at a Hindu temple. The little baby is discovered by the temple priest (Nazir Hussain), who brings up the boy – Bholenath. Years later the boy (Dilip Kumar) grows up to serve the zamindar. The zamindar’s daughter Tara (Saira Banu) keeps making fun of Bholenath and during the situation of this song also, she does so. Bholenath sings this song and Tara joins him, while teasing him.

Song: The music of this song was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and the lyrics were penned by Anand Bakshi.

The song basically highlights the fact that the girl is teasing the man. In those days, only men would tease girls. The man sings about this and a few other things in this song. The girl says that there is a pair of spectacles in the market, which when worn even blind people can see. The man dismisses that as bogus.

The video opens with Dilip Kumar covering himself in a shawl and dancing among the crops in a field. Saira Banu and the other girls also dance to the tune of the music. Dilip Kumar begins the song. Saira Banu also joins him in the song and dance. She pulls his shawl and dances with it. Then, she throws it at him.

The group of girls pushes him around. He continues to sing. Saira Banu pushes him and he falls in the field. She gets worried about him. However, he recovers from the fall and stands up. While he is singing that he does not need vision, he comes in the path of a truck. But, the truck driver stops at the right time.

Saira Banu and the other girls get worried about him. But, he is safe. They continue the song. The lead pair travel some distance on the truck. They dance and go across the camera focus area as the sun sets. Thus, the video ends.

Artists: The playback of this song was sung by Mohammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar and the onscreen performances are by Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu and others.

Cultural Influence: The hero is blind. The heroine keeps teasing him, some way or the other. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for entertainment.
