Movie: This song appeared in 1974 super hit social romantic drama Chor Machaye Shor (Thief Makes Noise) produced by N N Sippy and directed by Ashok Roy under the banner of N N Sippy Productions. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor, Mumtaz, Danny Dengzongpa, late Kamal Kapoor, late Madan Puri, late Asit Sen, Asrani, etc. This movie was remade into the Telugu movie Bhale Dongalu.
Vijay (Shashi Kapoor) is an engineer, who loves a rich girl Rekha (Mumtaz). Rekha’s father Jagdish (Kamal Kapoor) is a snob and rejects his proposal for his daughter because he is poor. He has arranged Rekha’s marriage with the son of an evil politician Seth Jamunadas (Madan Puri). Jagdish and Seth Jamunadas together frame Vijay for a murder he did not commit and get him thrown in jail. While he is in jail he develops a friendship with 3 other jailbirds. All 4 men escape from prison. Vijay contacts Rekha and the 5 of them go to a small village – Shantinagar and help the village against the evil politician and dacoits, who terrorize the people there. It is around this time that Rekha, a typically modern girl wears the dress of a village girl and when Vijay sees her, she begins this song. Vijay joins her in the song.

The video opens with Mumtaz running across the focus area of the camera and then Shashi Kapoor looking for her. The scene is of a typical village in a mountainous area. Shashi Kapoor throws a hangman’s rope in the path of Mumtaz and she places one foot inside the loop. Then, Shashi Kapoor pulls her and she falls down. Mumtaz begins the song.
She pulls the rope and Shashi Kapoor falls down. He removes the looped rope from the foot of Mumtaz. Both of them stand up. He tries to get close to her. But, she pushes him away. She dances along the available space. Shashi Kapoor also dances in his patent style. The video ends as the song ends and the lead pair moves away from the focus area of the camera hand in hand.
