Movie: This song appeared in 1981 hit Kapleshwar Films’ Katilon Ke Katil (Killer of Murderers) directed by Arjun and Anil Hingorani and produced by Arjun Hingorani. The producer had a fixation for titles with triple K with Dharmendra in the lead. The other stars in the movie were Zeenat Aman, Rishi Kapoor, Tina Munim, late Amjad Khan, late Nirupa Roy, late Pradeep Kumar, Shakti Kapoor, late Mukri, Kalpana Iyer, etc.
A rich man (Pradeep Kumar) has a small divine chariot with Lord Krishna and Arjuna, made up of gold studded with diamonds. The criminal Black Cobra (Amjad Khan) wants that for himself. He kills the rich man and in the confusion his wife Radha (Nirupa Roy) gets separated from her sons Ajit and Munna. Ajit watches his father being killed by Black Cobra and that gives him a big shock. When he cannot remember his past, he is adopted by a Muslim woman and named Badshah. Munna is adopted by a petty thief (Mukri).
Years later both the kids have grown up into young men. Badshah (Dharmendra) fights for the downtrodden. Munna (Rishi Kapoor) has become a petty thief like his adopted father. One day, Munna sets his eyes on the precious necklace worn by a lady staying at a hotel. He goes to her room as a steward and tries to steal the necklace. But, he is not the only one besotted by the necklace. Another petty thief, this time a female (Tina Munim) with a monkey doing all the work, is attracted to it and steals it.
This female thief gives her monkey a treat at the Oberoi hotel after having stolen the necklace. Munna has seen them leave with the necklace and arrives at the hotel with his partner (Kalpana Iyer) as the prince of an unknown land. The female thief falls for the ruse and befriends Munna to take him to a discotheque. Her intention is to steal his wallet full of money. In all these later happenings, the monkey is missing! At the discotheque, Munna and the female thief sing this song.
Song: The lyrics of this song were written by Rajinder Kishan and the music was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.
The man pretends to have fallen in love with the girl and so does the girl.
Video: Cinematography is by Kishore Rege.
The video opens with some youths going to the dancing area of the discotheque. First, Rishi Kapoor begins to dance with the youths. Then, Tina Munim joins him in the dance. Similarly, Rishi Kapoor begins to sing this song first and then, Tina Munim joins him. He gets closer to her and tries to remove the necklace. But, she ducks just in time and he misses the chance. Both are wearing black dresses.
They hug each other. Rishi Kapoor removes the necklace, while Tina Munim steals his wallet! He drops a fake necklace that he has near her. Tina Munim realizes that her necklace is no longer on her neck. She looks around for it. It is Rishi Kapoor, who finds it and hooks it around her neck. The video ends with the end of the song and dance.
Artists: The playback of the song was sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle, while onscreen performances were by Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim.
Cultural Influence: Tina Munim brings Rishi Kapoor to a discotheque, with the intention of stealing his wallet. He, on the other hand, has disguised himself as a prince for stealing the necklace she is wearing. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
