Movie: This song appeared in 1976 semi hit action drama Adalat (Court) directed by Narender Bedi and produced by A K Nadiadwala under the banner of A K Movies. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman, Neetu Singh, Heena Kausar, late Anwar Hussain, late Sujit Kumar, Suresh, etc.
Dharma or Dharam Chand (Amitabh Bachchan) is an amenable farmer. He has a sister Laxmi (Heena Kausar). He is very happy when his wife Radha (Waheeda Rehman) gives birth to a boy. They name the child Raju. To earn some extra money, he decides to help the 3 rich men Ajit (Anwar Hussain), Sujit (Sujit Kumar) and Suresh (Suresh) go hunting in the nearby jungle. Dharma also saves Ajit, when he is attacked by a tiger. Ajit pays Dharma Rs.800 for the services and saving his life. He also tells Dharma if ever he wanted to visit the city, he would be given a job by them.
When farming did not give him enough earning, Dharma visits the city to be employed by Ajit. Soon, the police raids Ajit’s factory and arrests Dharma for smuggling gold and drugs. Ajit gives a false testimony that he had transferred his warehouse in the name Dharma and did not have anything to do with the smuggling. With all evidence against him, Dharma is sentenced to a year’s imprisonment. When he returns, his sister Laxmi has been raped by Sujit and his wife has lost the ability to conceive due to an accident.
Dharma kills Sujit and Suresh, without leaving any evidence. With the money they had, he starts his own business and smuggling racket. Since his son Raju’s life was in danger, he is sent to London for studies. When Raju (Amitabh Bachchan again) returns, he is in love with Geeta Verma (Neetu Singh), his classmate in London. Raju has been assigned 2 bodyguards (Viju Khote and another actor), whom he gives the slip one day to meet Geeta. It is at this time that Raju and Geeta sing this song.
Song: The music of this song was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and the lyrics were penned by Gulshan Bawra.
This song depicts longing for the beloved because of the man and the girl staying away from each other. The man asks for the favors only lovers would willingly give. But, the girl insists that the favors would be given only when they get married.
Video: The video opens with Amitabh Bachchan and Neetu Singh running away from Amitabh Bachchan’s bodyguards. Neetu Singh cannot run anymore. She is panting. Amitabh Bachchan reminds her that 2 men are following them and she begins to run with him again. Amitabh Bachchan begins the song and Neetu Singh joins in.
They hug each other and continue the song. Neetu Singh sees the bodyguards coming their way and gets alarmed. The lead pair begins to run again all through the large garden. The 2 bodyguards separate looking for them. When they cannot be seen, Amitabh Bachchan continues with the song.
The sun shines through the leaves of the trees. The video ends with the lead pair in a car traveling some place and stopping at some point.
