‘The Breakup Song’ from upcoming film ‘Ae dil hai muskil’ is the fourth song in a row, sung by Arijit Singh, Badshah, Jonita Gandhi, Nakash Aziz, written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by Pritam Chakraborty. Though breakup songs are slow and sad, related to tearing a soul apart and crying over the sad ending but in this music video you will see happiness, actors celebrating a breakup by hitting the dance floor.

After the first three sad songs, ’Ae dil hai muskil’ brings a reason to feel happy. The leads Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma as Ayan and Alizeh show how one can come out as a strong person and celebrate a breakup without regret. The duo puts the dance floor on fire and livens up the screen with their energy.

Though the song is a peppy dance track, but the audience will get confused wondering whose break- up they are celebrating. Whether they are celebrating a break-up with each other, friendship, or love. On one hand Ranbir tells Anushka “Humko bin bataye tune ye kab kar liya, Tere saiyyan ji se kaahe tune break-up kar liya?” (without telling us when did you do this), but towards the end of the song Ranbir raps to Anushka saying, “Photo jaala ke gaali de, karde teri maa ki aankh” (light fire on his photo and convert it to ash) and Anushka sings back, “Dil pe patthar rakh ke maine makeup kar liya, mere saiyyan ji se aaj maine breakup kar liya” (It is an idiom in Hindi language which means you did something without permission of your heart), which all sounds fishy.

Looking at the visuals we can make out that the song is set in a disco and is a party song. The visuals are very colorful and the choreography of dance matches with the lyrics of song but the use of headset make no sense. The song shows us how to move on from heartbreak in the most entertaining way.  Break up or no break up, the song is bound to make you get up and dance.
