Movie: This song appeared in 1976 semi hit action drama Adalat (Court) directed by Narender Bedi and produced by A K Nadiadwala under the banner of A K Movies. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman, Neetu Singh, Heena Kausar, late Anwar Hussain, late Sujit Kumar, Suresh, etc. Amitabh Bachchan received a Filmfare Best Actor Nomination, which was the only one for the movie. The movie was remade into the Telugu Shivamettina Satyam (1980) and Tamil Vishwaroopam.
Dharma or Dharam Chand (Amitabh Bachchan) is an amenable farmer. He has a sister Laxmi (Heena Kausar). He is very happy when his wife Radha (Waheeda Rehman) gives birth to a boy. They name the child Raju. To earn some extra money, he decides to help the 3 rich men Ajit (Anwar Hussain), Sujit (Sujit Kumar) and Suresh (Suresh) go hunting in the nearby jungle. Dharma also saves Ajit, when he is attacked by a tiger. Ajit pays Dharma Rs.800 for the services and saving his life. He also tells Dharma if ever he wanted to visit the city, he would be given a job by them. But, Sujit is doubtful whether the illiterate villager would be of any help to them at all. It is at this time that Dharma sings this song and dances to its tune.
Song: The music of this song was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and the lyrics were penned by Gulshan Bawra.
The man insists that people do not think of him as a naïve person. He was of a lot of use to many people. He goes on to explain his worth throughout the song.
Video: The video opens with the close-up shot of Amitabh Bachchan beginning the song and dancing to the tune of it. The 3 rich men – Anwar Hussain, Sujit Kumar and Suresh are shown in one shot. They soon go back and sit on the verandah of the house in which they are staying. Heena Kausar is sitting on a bullock-less cart and enjoying the song sequence. When Sujit Kumar looks at Heena Kausar, he glances with lust in his eyes.
Amitabh Bachchan continues the dance. He dances on a platform in front of the house in which the rich men are staying. Some parts of the dance are fast. He sits on the platform and uses his knees as dholak (a percussion instrument). The video ends with Amitabh Bachchan jumping toward the verandah, where the 3 rich men are sitting and watching the performance.
