French Montana is back with a new mixtape. Or is it an album? Whatever it is, MC4 is here!
You may recall that during the summer the highly anticipated album was pushed back from an August release date to October 14, 2016. Someone at Target didn’t get the memo, however, and they accidentally released the CD on August 19, the original release date. Fans bought the album and uploaded it to the internet, leaking songs to the public. After that debacle the album’s fate was undecided. On November 5 French Montana announced on Twitter that the album would be released as a mixtape, a star-studded one. The guest appearances are numerous and include, but are not limited to, Kanye West, Drake, Young Jeezy and Nas. The mixtape is the fourth installment in the Mac & Cheese series.
But wait, there’s more! French Montana has also released two videos over the last two days. The first video was for Xplicit, which was dropped as a single back in September. The song, which features the crooning of Miguel, is your basic love tune with video to match. On an exotic beach Miguel sings to various beautiful women, each with varying levels of longing in their eyes. The most interesting part of the video might be the product placement of Birthday Cake Wines at the 1:26 mark in the video. The Urban Drinks website doesn’t list the vineyard as a Montana favorite but maybe it will in the coming days.
Have Mercy features a triumvirate of hip-hop elder statesmen, Beanie Sigel, Jadakiss and Styles P. Montana begins the video waking up from a bad dream in which he remembered the death of his friend, Queens rapper Chinx. The rest of the video offers a violent and sometimes graphic display of what happens for those who are out robbing and stealing as French Montana sings during the hook.
The mixtape is available to stream or buy on Itunes, Datpiff, Spotify and Ovosound.
