The refreshing title track of Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra’s upcoming film ‘Mirzya’ was released on September 1, 2016. The song is composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, written by Gulzar and sung by Daler Mehndi, Sain Zahoor, Akhtar Chinnal and Noorani Sisters. The title track narrates the tale of ‘Mirzya’, a popular tragic romance of Punjab with its high pitch folk number. The visuals in the track showcases the enthralling chemistry between the lead pair- Harshvardhan Kapoor (Mirza) and Saiyami Kher (Sahiba). These thrilling sequences seem like visual poetry.

Mirzya, the song, is a wonderful introduction to the film ‘Mirzya’.The lyrics of the song is full of soul and emotion. The words like “Marta nahi ishq Mirzya, Sadiyan Sahiba rehti hai’ (Love never dies Mirzya, Sahiba exists forever) are wrapped in pain. sounds electrifying and even the flute playing alongside the voices of singers sounds relieving and obsessive.

In the video the director has coiled the age old story of Mirza and Sahiban in two time zones, hinting at rebirth. When Mirza and Sahiba were in school, Mirza fell in love with Sahiba not knowing that she was his ‘cousin’. With growing time Mirza became a skilled horseman and archer, whereas Sahiba grew more beautiful with time, and the love between Mirza and Sahiba became stronger.

When Sahiba’s parents came to know about their love story, they sent Mirza back to his home and soon arranged a marriage for Sahiba. Mirza came to know about Sahiba marriage and rode back to the village of Kheewa by support of his father. He reached Sahiba on the day of her marriage, without waiting another moment, Mirza rode to a distant place with Sahiba.

The tragedy happened when things didn’t work out the way she thought. The moment Sahiba’s brothers came to know that she had escaped, they came in search for her and found them under the tree. Their story ends with the death of forbidden lovers.
