Movie: This song appears in the 1964 drama Shagun (Auspicious Moment or Thing) produced by Suraiya Mubin Nazar and directed by Nazar. The movie starred Waheeda Rehman, Kamaljeet, late Nazir Hussain, late Achala Sachdev, etc. The movie was shot at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai and Nainital.

During a trip to Nainital, Madan (Kamaljeet) meets Geeta (Waheeda Rehman) and falls in love with her. She also eventually reciprocates the feelings. It is during one of their dates that they sing this song.
