Vicente Fernandez does not bite his tongue.
Being an immigrant who crossed the border several times, Iconic singer Vicente Fernandez had much to say about our candidate for US president, Donald Trump. It was during a concert where Vicente spoke up on the topic of Trump.
“The day I find him, I’m going to spit in his face! I’m going to f*ck him up,” “I’m going to tell him things that no one has had the courage to tell him in all his damn life.”
It is quite clear that this icon is not having it, he is not afraid and will not hold back on his feelings toward Trump. Picking a concert to do so, was not only daring, but it also got fans to listen. If you watch the video of Vicente’s concert, you can clearly hear that his fans seem to like what “Chente” (Vicente’s nick name) has to say. Being a Hispanic, an immigrant, and over all a Latino it is understandable and even mutual the dislike to Trump.
As many of you remember Donald Trump said and I quote, “I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.” Many Latinos took offense with this and many other of Trumps comments.
Luckily, several of the Latino artist are speaking up on the topic. Vicente Fernandez, Salma Hayek and Eugenio Derbez are just a few to mention.
There was a question that was asked about whether music had an influence on daily issues, and it’s clear to see that Vicente Fernandez used his music to mention Trump. Following his comment of Trump he sang a song that talks about how he struggled when crossing the border for a better life. He has the power to influence, needless to say he has.
