Kiiara is an Illinois singer whose style consists of a mixture between Marian Hill and Lorde. Kiiara began recording under her real name, Kiara Saulters  and independently released an acoustic pop single in 2013 called “Bring Me Back”. She got  signed under Atlantic Records and after changing to her stage name to Kiiara, she  released her debut single “Gold” in June 2015.  The single peaked at number five in Australia, where it was certified Platinum. Her debut EP, low kii savage, was released on March 22,2016.  The official music video for “Gold”,  released on March 21, 2016, quickly gained popularity and reached five million views by May 2016.

Covering the music video her hit song “Gold,” I found the introduction to the song to be very interesting. I love the dark scenery in the video as it gives off more feeling to the emotion and feelings that the song and lyrics are trying to portray.Figuratively speaking, the song is about how her relationship with her partner is burning with problems, but he doesn’t want to tell her and let the problems burn until the relationship is corpses on the ground “bodies on the pavement.” This song is a cocky tell-off to a thoughtless lover. It is interesting to me how the song casually explains the story line with the use of metaphors. To fully understand the meaning and the storyline of the song, you but understand the “second language” of the lyrics. It’s a different language. A love language. I love the beats and instrumental music. It give off that “wanting to dance “vibe.

“Gold” is featured on the album,  “Low Kii Savage.” This album speaks for itself. First off the CD white. Never has then been a white CD. That there simply shows the uniqueness and creativity of the album. The album I can say is different from most. The songs are different yet addictive in some way. The instrumentals and unique vocals of each song gives off such a calm and cool feeling. I personally like the album, but feel as if it fits only one type of atmosphere or mood.
