This song is connected to memories of my educational years.

Movie: This song appeared in the 1991 movie Patthar Ke Phool (Flowers of Stone), produced by G P Sippy and directed by Anant Balani. The movie starred Salman Kahn, Raveena Tandon (debut), late Vinod Mehra, Kiran Kumar, Reema Lagoo and late Manohar Singh.
Suraj (Salman Khan) is the son of Inspector Vijay Verma (Vinod Mehra) and his wife Meera (Reema Lagoo). One day, Suraj meets a girl called Kiran (Raveena Tandon). What nobody knows is that Kiran is the daughter of Balraj Khanna, who is the Chairman of a group of underworld gangs. He has kept this as a secret from the entire world as well as his own daughter. Meanwhile, Vijay is assigned the case of several gangsters including Balraj’s gang. Suraj and Kiran join the same college, meet often and fall in love.
Around this time, both begin to sing this song on a skating ring.

Song: The music of this song was composed by Raam-Laxman and the lyrics were written by Ravinder Rawal.
The boy begins the song with, “I fell in love with you at first sight and this has happened with me for the first time. Where were you all this while? I kept looking for you.”
Then he says that he looked for her at Linking Road, Warden Road, Cadell Road and Peddar Road.
The girl takes over, “I searched in several lanes, but my heart did not listen to me. I looked for you at several places and I became crazy for you. Even then I could not see you. Beloved, this happened often.”
The boy says that he looked for her at Turner Road, Carter Road, Charni Road and Arthur Road.
The girl continues, “Love riddle became muddled. I tried my best, but could not solve it. There is no compulsion in love. There is no one else in my heart. My heart yearned for you. Beloved, this happened often.”
The boy again says that he was looking for her at Berry Road, Pali Road, Mira Road and Godbundar Road.
The boy adds, “This is a miracle of God. He made us meet this way.”
The girl replies, “We have met today. Look so many buds have bloomed.”
Their meeting, it appears, has given happiness to all. Therefore, even buds have bloomed.
The boy insists, “Let bygones be bygones. The moment we met we confessed our love.”
The girl ends the song with, “We meet at these places – Linking Road, Warden Road, Dunkin Road, Lamington Road, Cadell Road, Peddar Road, Charni Road, Arthur Road, Turner Road and Carter Road.”

Video: Cinematography is by Nirmal Jani and Nagarajan Lingam. The choreography is by Chinni Prakash.
The video begins in a skating ring. In the beginning, Salman Khan moves on the skates slowly, then a little faster. Then he moves rapidly and while passing Raveena Tandon, he snatches her ice cream cone. He takes a bow with crossed legs. Then he runs with the skates on. He also skates in the squatting position. By then Raveena also joins in the skating ring.
Raveena Tandon is wearing a green skirt, black shirt, and black leggings. He is also wearing a simple dress. Both are slim and make a good pair. He pushes a sitting Raveena Tandon from behind. They move about sea area as well.
Then they keep moving all over Mumbai, particularly certain areas, which have the names ending in Road, like Warden Road, Linking Road, and Peddar Road. Next Raveena Tandon drives a car and throws him a walking stick. He is skating behind her and catches the stick. After a couple of tries, he hooks the walking stick on the bumper of the car and reaches her. They have changed their dresses.
Next, it is the night sequence. Both are skating on an almost dark and isolated road. They have again changed their dresses. They dance on the parapet wall bordering a road. Now they travel in a horse carriage. They perform a few stunts on the horse carriage. Raveena Tandon sings lying on the road in different positions. The video ends with Raveena Tandon running behind the horse carriage and climbing on to it.

Artists: The playback singers are S P Balasubramanium and Lata Mangeshkar. Onscreen performances are by Salman Khan and Raveena Tandon.

Cultural Influence: A boy and a girl, performing naughty antics on the road, is very natural. The skating part is an addition to it. The video is worth watching several times.
